PLEASE NOTE: This lot was sold in an online benefit auction where all proceeds went to the Whyte Museum in Banff, Alberta and there was no Buyer's Premium.; This rarely encountered diminutively sized painting is exceptionally detailed featuring Great Glacier and water fall along the CPR right of way in the Rogers Pass late 1880's. Bell-Smith was one of the eminent eastern Canadian artists invited by Cornelius Van Horne to create paintings of Western Canada for the CPR to promote tourism via its national rail line.
